When working late doesn't pay

Important information about a recent loss of information

Since shifting controlroom.co to a new server in a rush it's been a frantic few months getting important reliability processes 100% in place.

To this end, I was working late on the 13th of June getting daily data backups running again (completed successfully). The final task was removing any unused websites off the server. Unfortunately one of these was a corrupt database entry, and deleting it resulted in the loss of most images and documents loaded to controlroom.co websites.

Since becoming aware of what happened the following day, the past 3 weeks have been dedicated to restoring content that was lost. The last complete backup I had was from 1 December 2012 so any images of files you loaded since then need to be reloaded.

A tool identifying what files are missing from your site is available here. I'll integrate this with controlroom.co in due course so you can check for broken links on a regular basis.

If I can assist in reloading any lost images in bulk let me know.

This incident has created a major nuisance and time-demand for my most active clients. I deeply apologise for the inconveinence caused.

Currently I'm working to identify and implement a doubly-redundant system of complete server backup. This will include both a system for prompt restoration and the ability for you to easily download backups of your own data directly. Look out for more information about this in the near future.
